Effect of Clovinol® on metabolic syndrome

Clove bud (Syzygium aromaticum L.) polyphenol helps to mitigate metabolic syndrome by establishing intracellular redox homeostasis and glucose metabolism: A randomized, double-blinded, active-controlled comparative study

Journal of Functional Foods, 2022

No of subjects – 70

Dosage – 250mg/day

Result – Clovinol enhanced the plasma concentration of GSH by 6 fold and offered statistically significant enhancement in Nrf2. Also, treatment with Clovinol also improved FBS, PPG, HbA1c, HOMA-IR and insulin levels indicating modulation of insulin resistance. In addition to these, Clovinol caused a significant reduction in total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and increased HDL

Clovinol ® maintains healthy glucose metabolism

Water-soluble polyphenol-rich clove extract lowers pre- and post-prandial blood glucose levels in healthy and prediabetic volunteers: an open label pilot study

Journal of BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2019

No of subjects – 13

Dosage – 250mg/ day

Result – Clovinol® was found to maintain healthy glucose metabolism

Clovinol ® reduced alcohol-induced hangover

Clove Bud Polyphenols Alleviate Alterations in Inflammation and Oxidative Stress Markers Associated with Binge Drinking: A Randomized Double-Blinded Placebo-Controlled Crossover Study

Journal of medicinal food, 2018

No of subjects – 16

Dosage – 250mg / day

Result – Clovinol ® was found to be safe and effective natural medicine for alcohol-induced toxicity and for reducing hangovers

Hepato-protective effect of Clovinol ®

Hepato-protective Effect of Clove Bud Polyphenols (Syzygium aromaticum L.) (Clovinol ®) by Modulating Alcohol Induced Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

Journal of Food Research, 2017

No of subjects –

Dosage – 100mg

Result – Supplementation of Clovinol ® showed downregulation of alcohol-induced oxidative stress and thereby act as a potential functional ingredient for liver health.

Toxicity study of Clovinol ®

Safety assessment of a standardized polyphenolic extract of clove buds: Subchronic toxicity and mutagenicity studies

Journal of toxicology reports, 2016

No of subjects –

Dosage - oral acute – 5g/Kg b.wt.

                 Subchronic (0.25, 0.5 and 1g/kg b.wt)

Result – Clovinol ® is safe in rats and can be further considered for human consumption.

Clovinol  ® in different food matrices

Beyond the flavour: a de-flavoured polyphenol-rich extract of clove buds (Syzygium aromaticum L) as a novel dietary antioxidant ingredient

Journal of food and function, 2015

No of subjects –

Dosage – 250mg / day

Result – Supplementation of Clovinol ® exhibited significant enhancement in endogenous cellular antioxidant enzyme levels.

Safety & anti-ulcerogenic activity of Clovinol ®

Safety and anti-ulcerogenic activity of a novel polyphenol-rich extract of clove buds (Syzygium aromaticum L)

Journal of Functional Foods, 2015

No of Subjects – Wistar rats

Dosage - Lethal dose oral administration - 5g

                 Sub-acute administration – 2.5g

Result – The result shows the safety and efficacy of Clovinol ® as an alcohol-induced stomach ulcer protective/ curative agent.
